SUMMARY OF MAJOR AFFILIATIONS AND PROJECTS


ASOLO THEATRE SCENIC PAINTING. 2015 - 2019
Hired, through local 412 to assist in the painting department. My duties included all aspects of painting scenery as well as scenic carving, The Rocks in the Evita Wall. The Floor for Shakspeare in Love. 2018 Summer Dog Days painted 2 shows.

 

ASOLO THEATRE PROPS FABRICATION. 2011 - 2018
Hired, through local 412 to assist in the props department for the Asolo winter repertory season. Manquin Sculptures and cat puppets: Beatsville. My duties included upholstery, sewing, draping, painting, assembling, graphics, props construction, foam food carving, furniture carpentry with deconstruction and returning props to storage, shopping, reorganizing the upholstery room.

 

FLORIDA STUDIO THEATRE PRODUCTION COORDINATOR. 2014
Hired to manage both Properties and Painting departments from February 2014 until November of 2014. My duties included consultation with designers and directors, research, procurement and/or building of all properties for all productions as needed in 2 theater and 3 cabaret spaces. My duties were to paint all scenery for all productions in 2 theatres and 3 cabaret spaces. I had one intern available part time to assist. During my 11 month tenure I rearranged most all of the properties and painting storage while successfully mounting 7 productions.

 

EDEXPLORE, SARASOTA SCHOOL BOARD: 2012 - 2013
Joined the Association of the Association of Florida Teaching Artists under the Supervision of the Sarasota School District and The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota to develop curriculum, which I will teach, that follows the new Common Core Standards offering Arts in School programs that are currently posted on EdExplore.com, a Sarasota School Board Web site. My class proposal is called “Acting on Vocabulary” which introduces acting exercises in conjunction with vocabulary words, the goal to acquaint students to the words introducing word usage, thus, familiarity.

 

GLENRIDGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. 2007 - 2013
Contracted to design sets, paint and prop productions: Quartet 2014, Jazz Juvenocracy 2013, The Drunkard 2013, Marriage Go Round 2011, Send Me No Flowers 2010,. Funny Money 2010, Second Time Around 2010.

 

GHOST LIGHT at CHAC: 2012
Contracted In partnership with Annie Morrison I was hired to develop a summer program at, CHAC, Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities. Annie and I designed a 7 week intensive where we introduced everything about the theatre that was not on stage, such as: Producer, Director, Stage Management, Costume Design, Set Design, Light Design, Sound Design, Choreography, Musical Direction, Props, Front of House, Fund raising & Party Planning, We assigned each person a job, or two, then improvised a comic play that took place “back stage” showcasing each person’s abilities. This developed into a 40 minute play using old analogue equipment, on a basic set, which I constructed, that we successfully performed 3 times at the conclusion of the program.

 

FINE ARTS: THE TREE PROJECT: 2011- 2013
Commissioned to create a sculpture: 20 foot length by 9 foot high installation of Tree-like shapes using my unique paper sculpture technique that was backlit with LED strips. The installation, a mere 8 inches deep, fit snuggly into a hall way in a private condominium. PVI commissioned a second outdoor installation in the same style before the first project was complete.

 

NICK DANGER PRIVATE EYE: 2012
Contracted to be the Stage Manager and Properties Coordinator. I was also cast as the Stage Manager/Sound Effects character in our production of the famous Fireside Theatre radio play, “Nick Danger Private Eye”, that was Directed and Catered by Larry Barrett, staged at the Crosley Mansion for 3 consecutive weeks in February 2012. I have also done sign design and interior decoration projects for Larry Barrett owner Simply Gourmet over the years helping him launch his business.

 

SARASOTA BALLET NUTCRACKER PROPS DESIGN & FABRICATION: 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017
Contracted through local 412 in 2012 to procure or create any properties needed for the World premier Circus Nutcracker Ballet. Most notably: the two motorized rats, the 14 foot elephant puppet: head, ears & trunk, the circus engine & trunk, the circus tent and the opening walnut with numerous smaller hand props, 18 sets of doll clothes that mimicked the costumes of the dancers. I have been called back to keep all properties in repair and to run props for the performances.

 

IATSE Local 412. Member in Good Standing since 2011.
A member of the union local, I am on call, during our active season, to be hired as a Stage Hand. I worked with the local since 2003, before membership.

 

FLORIDA STUDIO THEATRE: 1998-2013
Contracted as a scenic painter for Androcles and the Lion, 1998, then as a designer for the Cabaret’s season 1998-99. Highlighting my contributions: In 2002, I painted the lobby fireplace and “No Way to Treat a Lady”, which, included a white portrait likeness painted on a black scrim and 6 carved gargoyles. In 2003, I Painted “Bully Pulpit” which included two sculpted 6’ elephant tusks also designed, built & painted for the Gompertz, 6 capitals and 4 cartouches. I was cast in the roles of Agnes in Anita Bryant Died for your sins in 2004 and I managed Props for 3 summer productions in the Keating. I have also worked for FST in the Box Office, 2003-04. As a carpenter 2011-12. As a stitcher, 2012-13, where I designed and built the Lion Head for the newest production of Androcles and the Lion! As well as, numerous calls to paint scenery and create special prop projects over the years.

 

SARASOTA OPERA PROPS COORDINATOR. 2009-2011
Contracted as the coordinater between scenic designers, directors and conductors while managing the union crew consisting of three property craftsmen during the building schedule of their seasonal employ. I was responsible for staying within the established props budget, researching, locating, procuring and finalizing all props for 4 winter operas and 1 fall opera, record keeping, documenting returning and loaning props. I also created all of the graphics design as needed.

ART SHOW, FINE ART 25 YEAR RETROSPECTIVE 2008.
I staged a retrospective of my fine art work at the Players theatre in the summer of 2008 showing the progression of the last 25 years which included some FACES, stone sculpture, Paper sculpture, paintings & drawings which began the ongoing lobby art exhibitions at the Players Theatre.

SARASOTA YOUTH OPERA SCENIC DESIGN & TEACHING 2003-08
Contracted to design and Paint “The Piper of Hamlin”2003. Youth Opera Camp: 2003,-04 & 08 I was given 3 classes to introduce scenic design to students aged 8-16. We explored the concept of scale, ground plans, drawing techniques, using our imagination and group cooperation.

 

FAUX PAINTER: 2008-2009
Contracted as one of 16 fine artist’s hired to restore the Sarasota Opera House in 2007. After that project was completed I continued to work for the company on a job to job basis until the company’s dissolution in 2009. I designed and painted decorative murals and trim as well as wall and woodwork painting.

 

CREATIVE DIRECTOR, BACKLOT THEATRE 2006-07
Hired to assist the Executive Director, Mark Marvel. My duties included re-designing and maintaining the Backlot web site, using FrontPage software. I managed the Backlot weekly Constant Contact E-blast. Served as House-manager. I also served as The Designer, Technical Director and Actress for our production of “The House of Bernarda Alba produced at the Historic Asolo Theatre. I did all of the faux painting for East Village Cabaret. I Designed graphics as needed and kept our numerous Cabaret productions, a new one each night, current in the local electronic media and online calendars. Our web site attracted Peter and Gordon, the famous British singing duo, who performed at EVC in 2007. After the transition of the Company from Backlot to East Village Cabaret I remained employed part time as their web site manager until the spring of 2007 just before the company dissolved.

 

SARASOTA BALLET COSTUME ASSISTANT 2006-07
Contracted Under Costumer, Derek Lockwood, I drafted costumes, sewed, detailed and painted as an part-time over-hire for the 06-07 season.

 

OWNERS ASSISTANT: Decor Tile 2004-06.
Hired as a tile decorator who’s duties included preparing tile decals for firing tiles, packing and shipping. When the owner was away I handled all business activities bookkeeping using Quickbooks, costumer service, ordering and production of ceramic tiles.

Contracted for the 2003 summer season 3 productions.: Assistant Technical Director and Scenic Designer: Rough Crossing. Award Winning Scenic Designer for “The Price”, SRQ Magazine.
